John Stockwell
Visual Artist | Director | Director of Photography | President
After graduating with a BA in Theatre and Film, John entered his film career as an Assistant
Cameraman. His first film project as a Director was voted Best Public Service Campaign in America
by the AAF (American Advertising Federation) in 1988. This quickly led to national recognition with
an image campaign for ABC's YouthPLUS. One spot he directed went on to win the 1990 CLIO, which is
advertising's equivalent to the OSCAR or TONY. In 1992, a five-part series he directed, featuring
Alfre Woodard and Howard Hessman, was nominated for two EMMY's. The following year, he won
an EMMY for a documentary he co-directed featuring Alex Haley, B.B. King and life along the
Mississippi River. Soon after, John formed his own production company, Times Fly Productions,
and has continued to receive numerous ADDYs, LANTERNs, MAGGIEs, and Best of Shows. His
national television commercials have included work for clients such as AT&T, Pampers and Crest.
This past year, he has been traveling around the country working with B.B. King on a documentary
spanning the lifetime of the Icon’s achievements, including contributions from artists Brandy, David
Banner, Eric Clapton, Bobby Blue Bland, Keb Mo and more. John has enjoyed his collaborations
with D’PROJECT and refocusing his visual talents back to the stage where it all began.
